Other Areas of Learning

Students will have the opportunity to engage with a range of other learning experiences as part of their junior cycle programme and these can be recorded on the Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement (JCPA).

Other learning experiences play a critical role in ensuring that students are provided with a broad and balanced educational experience.

It is essential that each student (2018 Junior Cycle cohort) complete the form below not later than 30th Sept 2018

In the ‘other areas of learning’ section the school can report on other learning experiences and events that the you have participated in outside of the schools junior cycle programme:

We can also report your learning experiences which are part of the formal timetabled curriculum but that are not reported on in other sections of your Junior Cycle Profle of Achievement (JCPA), for example student engagement in

  • a science fair,
  • a musical performance
  • a debating competition
  • Quiz teams
  • Leadership training
  • Yur particpation in Physical Education (PE), Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE) curriculum and (CSPE). 
  • Egagement with the school’s own Religious Education programme (eg Carol Service)

They could also include extracurricular activities, such as:

  • membership of the school student council
  • membership of school clubs or teams (Gaelic, Soccer, Hurling, Basketball etc)
  • individual school sporting achievements (e.g. athletics)
  • participation in school sporting activities
